Umi, the muffins were really good. Think you could teach me how to make them?

Aya, are you up for patrol tonight? My head is killing me.

The vein was slow to react, a sure sign of dehydration. But such things were common with high fevers...

It was fortunate that Solomon's chiropteran senses were more attuned to the flow of blood in potential prey. Tapping on the man's arm, he gazed intently at the flesh, picking out the pulse under the surface of the man's flesh.

With a slight smile, he honed in on just the right spot, and swiped it with an alcohol pad before pressing the needle directly into the vein.

Ken didn't react to the stick, since it'd happened to him many times before. Granted, he was a lot better at what he did now, but he'd had to learn somehow, and what better way?

Omi just squeezed his other hand and stroked through his hair worriedly.

Catheter in place, he slid the needle back out and taped the line firmly in place. It would take time for the saline solution to ease into Ken's body. Until then, he could monitor his health, and have a much needed word with his 'roommates'.

"All done... now, just try to relax while the IV does it's job. Hopefully, you should be feeling less ill shortly... I'll come back in and check with you in a few minutes, alright?"

He smiled over at Omi, a reassuring gesture. "This should help... but maybe we should give him a few moments rest. Would it be an imposition to have you make some tea while we wait? I could use something to drink..."

Something to drink. He could take care of that. Removing himself from where he was standing, Aya made his way to the kitchen to start the tea.

Ken just nodded a bit, squeezing Omi's hand before letting his drop from Omi's grasp.

"... go on. Get yourself something to drink, too."

Solomon went from Omi's new favorite person to high on his shit list in that moment. But good manners won and a need to preserve their cover won out. He ran his hands over Ken's forehead before leaving to help Aya.

Taking his bag with him, he followed the others out into the living room, pulling the bedroom door closed behind him with a soft click. When out of earshot, he allowed his nonchalant smile to ease from his handsome features. There was no need to disguise his hesitations from these two.

"I hope you don't mind... but in Ken's current state, I felt it would be easier to ask about his thought patterns lately by coming out here for a few minutes." Pulling a clipboard from the side pocket, he began to make notations of his patient's condition. "Has he been acting differently than normal? More suspicious, hostile.... delusional? Anything unusual that might mean this is something more serious than a simple fever."

Aya eyed the door that Solomon had just closed. That wasn't something he would have hid from Ken. No matter how irritating he was being right now. His frown showed that much as he turned his back and went into the kitchen.

Omi would share it with Ken later.

"He's never like this. He's not mean or sarcastic, he's -- he's the happiest person I know."

"Hm... you'd concur, Aya?"

Tapping his pen lightly on the medical chart, Solomon ran through the list of symptoms currently running rampant in the City.

Aya started the water and favored Solomon with a cool gaze.

"What Omi said is true. You don't need to ask me."

"You think it's worse than a flu or something."

It wasn't really a question.

"It's certainly looking like that." Gone was the cheerful bedside manner. It was important for Ken's roommates to understand that this could be a serious matter.

"I'm going to leave medicine for him to keep the fever from spiking again, and to ease any discomfort he has..." Digging through his bag, he made quick work to divvy out enough pills to last a couple days. "I think it would be a good idea for someone here to monitor him for the next 48 hours... take his temperature, cool his skin with the cloth if he feels warm, keep him warm if he's shivering... make sure he takes his medicine."

Holding out the medicine, he stared intently into Omi's eyes. "And above anything else... if he seems to be getting worse, or showing new symptoms... either come get me, or call me. Alright?"

Aya listened carefully from the kitchen so that way if Omi couldn't manage things, he'd know what to do. He doubted that he'd have to lift a finger though. Omi was fully prepared to play nurse.

"Of course."

Omi looked young, but he could handle this and more. He took the medicine and got Ken another glass of water before heading back into the room.
