□ Name: Ken Hidaka
□ Journal:
hatesthefood
□ Series: Weiss Kreuz (Side B)
□ Canon point: End of canon (Side B)
□ History: http://weisskreuz.wikia.com/wiki/Ken_Hidaka
□ Personality:
Ken is loyal to a fault (even at times, to his detriment) and trusts in people, but only after proving that they're worth it. When he was a younger man, that trust was easy to come by, but a vicious betrayal by his best friend made him lose that ease with others for quite some time. Thankfully, he's regaining that thanks to a good deal of time and being part of a new team that has proven themselves to him.
As with Weiss, Ken’s been able to find a place of trust and camaraderie in Kryptonbrand’s Side B. To him, his fellow teammates represent a cobbled together family. It’s dysfunctional, yet just right for him. All in all, the relationship he has with his teammates are good, from the looming, silent Free down to little Michel. He’d give his life for any of them without hesitation and if anyone else were to hurt them in any way, the offending party would have hell to pay, from either his big mouth, his lightning quick fists, or his deadly bagh nahks.
That said, life is rarely perfect and neither are interpersonal relationships. On the opposite side of the spectrum is his relationship with his teammate Chloe. Don’t doubt that there isn’t respect there, because there is, but the pretty blonde irritates Ken like no other. Ken isn’t the most patient of people even on a good day, but Chloe can set him off quicker than anyone else. From his jibes at Ken’s frequent troubles with learning English to general snide comments, Chloe seems to be very adept at pushing Ken’s buttons. Of course, Ken responds pretty predictably; with anger and smart comments back. Despite that antagonism between them, Ken would do anything to protect him, as he would anyone else on his team. Oddly enough, they make a good team, which galls Ken to no end, but he wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize that.
In counterpoint: his relationship with Aya. At first, it was a case of tolerance, as Ken thought Aya needed to loosen up. As time passed, they grew to know each other through thick and thin. Teammates became friends and Ken started to lean heavily on Aya’s sense of morals when his own sanity started to slip thanks to all the death he’d seen and dealt. After a hard mission, Ken decided he needed to get away so he could straighten himself out. What he needed was somewhere safe and away from most of the population. He willingly allowed himself to be put in prison so he could work through his own issues while around people that like him, were less than innocent. That way, if he snapped, he wouldn’t cause harm to someone that didn’t deserve it. One thing kept him going: a promise to his friend and leader. No matter what, once he was alright, he’d follow him anywhere. Once he was released from prison and firmly in control of his sanity, he did just that, moving to England to follow Aya.
He adores kids, even to the point of coaching a kid's soccer team in his off time, and if he was able to, he'd have a large family. They remind him of the simple joy to be had in life and for him, working and spending time with them keeps him cheery even in the face of what he does under cover of darkness. He's a bit of a sentimental soul, not that he'll ever let that be known. If able, he'd keep keepsakes of his old team, because to him, they were family, even if they were more than a bit dysfunctional. For an assassin, there's an air of kindness about him unless you've earned the touch of his bagh nahks. He's the kind of guy to drop what he's doing while out to help an old lady carry her groceries into her house or join a pick up game he sees in a park near his new home in England.
On the flip side, Ken Hidaka can be a pain in the butt. He's a hotheaded young man and that isn't likely to change. He's quick to anger, but it usually burns out just as quickly as it rises. He hates liars with a passion and won't hesitate to call them out on what he considers bull. He has a bad habit of jumping into situations, feet first and without forethought, even if he knows it's not exactly a smart thing to do. His mouth is just as apt to rush in where angels fear to tread. In the past, he's allowed himself to sink into the darkness and guilt his job can bring on, and it drove him almost insane. There's still a bit of darkness about him and that's something he works hard to keep from showing back up again.
Another strong point of Ken’s is his sense of morality. Most would think that in his line of work, he wouldn’t have much of one, but on the contrary, he does. Many things irritate him, but one thing he truly can’t stand is a liar, even if he’s the one lying. His oldest and dearest friend before joining Weiss is a good chunk of the reason that he hates liars so much. Not only did he ruin Ken’s young life by drugging him so he’d ‘throw’ a professional soccer game, he lied about having information on who did it, then tricked Ken into joining him in an ‘abandoned’ warehouse to learn all that so valuable information. At the end of it all, they were ambushed and he was left to die, unconscious in a burning warehouse after seeing his friend ‘dragged off’ to his own apparent death. Years later, Kase surfaced again, much to Ken’s dismay. He was listed as a target for Weiss and Ken, still so very eager and well meaning, tried to save him. In the end, Kase betrayed him yet again, this time shooting him once Ken learned the truth. Unfortunately for Kase, Ken’s far too tough to die so easily (with a little thanks to a handy Kevlar vest) and he met his end at Ken’s hands. Simply put, liars disgust him, and with good reason.
Another thing he values is innocence. The good need to be able to retain that fragile state, so when on mission, he does his best to kill target(s) and only those he means to target. In the past, he might’ve wanted to kill outside of missions, but no longer. To him, he sees that as something paramount. After all, he lost his own innocence at a young age and the last thing he wants to do is see someone else have to deal with the things he and his fellow assassins have to deal with on a daily basis. For Ken, good is good and bad is bad. There might be some grey area, but for him, that area is small.
As often as he smiles, there always seems to be a bit of a shadow lurking in his dark eyes. That’s not too surprising, given his nighttime occupation. As cheery as he is, there’s always that lingering guilt just under the surface. While the old dark urges might be something he can handle now, the guilt remains pretty unrestrained. Yes, he kills bad people for good reasons, but it’s still murder and he remembers all too well that once upon a time (not too long ago), he wanted more than killing just the bad ones. Nightmares are still something he deals with weekly and they’ll more than likely be something he’ll never be rid of. After all, you can wash the blood away, but it leaves stains that never fade.
Ken believes in the good in people, even after everything he's seen and done. As much as he's an idealist, he's also a trained killer and that wears on his spirit. His strong sense of morality often leaves him conflicted with the things he has to do for and with Weiss in the past and Side B at the current time. The more he kills, the more his silent guilt starts to weigh on his soul, but even then, he does his best to cling to some sense of normalcy in his life, because in the end, he knows that in his line of work, it won't be a long one.
Working in the flowershop gives him a little slice of normal life in what would normally be a very dark existence. He’s always been a fan of working with his hands and nothing makes him happier than to collapse into his bed, body tired from good, honest work. Most of the time, he has a ready smile for the shop customers and anyone he passes on the streets, as long as he’s not in ‘mission mode’. It’s a sense of fulfillment he never imagined he’d get the chance to see, and at times, he still feels as if he doesn’t deserve it.
The chipper smile, while a common fixture on Ken’s expressive face, can be the biggest lie he tells himself as well as the world around him. It’s something he hates, but it’s just something he feels he needs to do. There’s a heavy weight of guilt riding on his shoulders, and no matter what he does, it never really lightens but it’s in his nature to keep that to himself. The last thing he wants is to worry someone over his many moods. For him, it’s just easier to show a happy face to the world. After all, a smiling, happy Ken is someone people like and enjoy being around. They smile back and that makes his world a little brighter.
One last thing to note is something that seems to be a common fandom mistake about Ken. He’s no idiot. He might not be the brains of the group, but he is far from stupid. The simple fact is simply that. He’s a simple person. He’s there to be the brawn of the team. Plans are laid out and he carries them out. Missions are serious business for him, but that’s where his real sense of professionalism comes out. Find the target, off anyone in the way and eliminate said target. If circumstances change, he’s smart enough to figure out new ways of taking care of business. Add on protecting his team and making sure everyone goes home and for him, that’s a job well done, guilt or no.

Types of sex I am OK with: Anything not on my strict no list
Kinks or practices I enjoy: Bondage, rough sex, hate sex, dom/sub, adrenaline fueled sex, biting, light bloodplay, toys, emotional themes, guns, harems, mindfuckery, pain, penance, predator/prey (as a demon), scars, voyeurism/exhibitionism
Types of sex I'm not OK with: Toilet play/training, scat, watersports (golden showers), necro, heavy gore, vore, needleplay (this list could grow and/or change)

Willing to write rape or dubcon?: Yes!

In case anyone is wondering, yeah. It's Ken. Not Aya. Seems we've been gifted with another wild and crazy weekend thanks to the deities.
Thanks, deities.

Sep. 1st, 2011 12:50 pm[See Ken. He's actually in his office, at his desk and working on paperwork. Without bitching. He's been there during business hours willingly for the last three days, which is odd for him.
Someone says something off camera and Ken glances up, shaking his head before he tells them to check the armory. That done, he's back on his paperwork.]
[ooc: Feel free to join in for open action either at the station or in the streets after he's off from work.]
