Okay, that... kinda sucked. Still kinda sucks. Hey Aya, d'you mind taking care of Bandit for a couple days?
[police filer]
Dean... don't shine lights in my eyes again. They're still there, you jerk. Not as bright as last night, though. Where did Sorrow end up?
Justin... you okay? Oh, and tell Beckett that I'm behaving in here. I don't want to be yelled at. My head hurts way too much for that.
[/police filter]
.... shit, they're comin' back... -CLICK-
[ooc: Feel free to visit Ken in the hospital. He'll be a little woozy but he'll be happy for the company! ^^]

[But there's a problem: her best stern glare would fail in the face of such a situation. At the time all Umi can think of is exactly by how little are they lucky to say Ken's alive.
So instead of her usual bossy expression he gets a fake-peeved smile which is more fond than anything, as she comes closer to sit by his bedside.]
But that'll have to come later. There's no point when you might well doze off on me.
action;
I'm still awake for now. I've been sleeping a lot since they made sure it wasn't dangerous, though.
action;
Then you should do what they tell you, even if it sounds like a pain. [She knows he's just like her and will probably want out of there as soon as he feels he can stand up.] You caught your man, didn't you.
[The flowers go on the bedside table, but Umi keeps the bag with the pillows beside her as she gives Ken's face a closer look. He seems tired but she know he's strong. To see him smile is so relieving.]
But just see what it took to do that...
action;
[He absently reached up to scratch at the bandages on his shoulder, grumbling softly.]
Hey, I kept my word the other night and went to Mara's. Plus, I was on my way home when I heard Sorrow. Didn't plan on working or else I would've been in full gear.
action;
[She frowns at the movements, wondering if it's okay for him to do that yet.
But nevermind: he must be uncomfortable on those stony pillows. At once she produces the ones she brought.]
Here. These will be way better. And no one's blaming you for doing your job! But... no gear. Boy. Looks like the timing for meeting that Sorrow guy just was awful...
action;
[His brow furrowed a little but his eyes stayed carefully closed. Headaches were easier to handle in the dark, after all.]
Timing usually is. You jus'deal.
action;
[There's a bit of the usual temper in that last sentence. Grumpily she arranges the pillows on the bed.]
...How's that, tough guy. I don't want the doctors to scold me but these hospital beds left me with a terrible impression back when it was me in one.
action;
Th'beds here suck.
action;
Not sure if I should keep you talking... But... [But she's not sure she's ready to leave him yet. He could have died. The thought alone makes her not want to go away until she's sure he'll recover.]
action;
[Sighing, he leans back a little heavier.]
action;
action;
Amen.
action;
Is there anything I can help take care of, while you're stuck here? You know, around your place? How long do they think they'll be keeping you anyway?
action;
[Shifting, he sank back a little deeper into the new pillows, sighing.]
Mmm... a few days at most. It'll be a while before I can go back to work, though...
action;
[That tone implies she won't be going any easier on him in that aspect either.] He, Syaoran and I can at least handle the shop.
action;
action;
[She reaches to hold his hand.] You were supposed to get rest, yeah! But not like this. It was supposed to be quality time and beach bonfires.
action;
[Frowning, he sits back up a little more again, squeezing his eyes closed for a moment.]
I forgot all about it.
action;
We'll do that. For now? Consider it something to look forward to once you're out of here.
action;
... fair enough.
action;
[It's a promise. She can actually list most of the necessary arrangements to make in her head right now.]
We can make it a small thing or invite whoever you want.
action;
I'll think about it some other time.
action;
[With one last affectionate squeeze she lets go of his hand and gets up.]
I think I'll hang around for a while longer. Then head back to the shop. But you bet I'll be here to check on you tomorrow morning.
