AS usual, another busy weekend in this City. The visits were alright. Nice in a few cases, and crappy in others. Nothing new there, I guess.

Euphie? Have you had anyone look at your hand since I cleaned it up? I think your sister would come back here and kill me if I let it get infected or anything...

[She takes his arm a little more confidently and attempts to draw him toward her.]

[And now, it's his turn to blush and glance away even though he lets Euphie pull him closer]

[Okay, you blushing is really cute, and it calms some of those nerves she's been feeling.] How can we make it simpler then?

[Assassins don't like the idea of being cute, Euphie, but from you, it's okay.]

I don't know. Nothing is really ever simple for me...

[Looks down at their joined hands, looking almost lost]

Euphie, death isn't the worst thing that can happen. I just... don't want you hurt. I promised your sister I'd protect you...

All the more reason to stay close so you can keep an eye on me, right? [Hopeful. Worried.]

[Still looking down at their hands]

Well... yeah.

...Is it too soon for you? I mean, after... And you saw him yesterday, didn't you? He was here?

Yeah. He was here.

[Ken let his eyes close, sighing.]

... I won't lie and say it was easy.

[Yeah, it's too soon or just Yeah, he was here? You make her all nervous, Ken.]

I'm sorry. It makes it harder after they leave. [If this sounds like personal experience, that's because it is.]

Would you like to tell me about it? [Her other hand pets the bed beside her as an offer for him to sit, not that it's her bed to offer.]

[She's not the only nervous one. He takes the offered seat with a sigh]

I really don't know if I want to talk about it.

...Suzaku was here. [She isn't sure what she's told you about him or if maybe you knew him when he was here for awhile.] Two of him actually.

[He finally looks over at her.]

... oh. Are you... alright?

[Nods] They were from different times. One was from six months after and the other...

He didn't know. [Softer] He was just like I remembered him.

... sounds like both of us had a rough day, in the end.

[Shifting, he tugs at their joined hands, pulling closer so he can curl his other arm around her shoulders, tugging her into a hug. It seems like they both need it.]

[She leans into him easily, resting her head on his shoulder and closing her eyes. Softly.] It doesn't feel so rough right now.

[It takes him a moment before he leans to rest his cheek against the crown of her head, closing his eyes]

... no. It doesn't.

[She told Suzaku she loved him before coming here. Before dying. She always thought there would be more time to figure things out after the SAZ opened. They could be together then. But that never happened. She'd never even kissed him. Even in all the time he was here in The City, so close and so far away at the same time. She never really knew where they stood except that they were important to each other. That seemed like enough at the time, but looking back now, she wished she was more sure of things.

She didn't want to be unsure with Ken. And if her next question is a little abrupt, maybe it can be blamed on her lack of experience and her lack of romantic role models.]

Am I your girlfriend?

[He isn't expecting her to be so blunt. He blinks his eyes open at the question, shifting to peer down at her with wide eyes. Part of him is relieved she's so straightforward and honest; having been with Mamoru was anything but, but there are times when Ken isn't sure how to handle it. He's used to the person he's close to being evasive and manipulative.]

[She has her moments of evasiveness, but she has fewer secrets here than she once did. She'd tell you almost anything with a little coaxing.]

She was hoping for a more direct answer than that. She peeks back up at him with hopeful eyes.] Yes?
